Straighten first, refine second — the long game, not the drill

Most city-centre smile makeovers begin by preparing healthy teeth for veneers or crowns. Smile Stylist works the other way round: aligners move the natural teeth into position first, and only where shape is still lacking does a little composite or a thin veneer follow. Clinical director Dr Sam Hainsworth frames it as dentistry aimed at how a smile will look decades on, rather than at next week’s photograph. The practice grew from a single chair inside a city-centre department store in 2012 into its own independent clinic in 2020.

Treatments

Invisalign is the backbone: a Diamond Invisalign Provider and Manchester’s largest, with more than 3,000 aligner patients treated and dentists who lecture on Invisalign technique at home and abroad. Damon fixed braces take the cases aligners cannot. Around that sit porcelain and composite veneers, whitening, ICON resin infiltration for white enamel spots without a drill or anaesthetic, implants, root canal treatment, oral surgery, specialist periodontal care, preventive and general dentistry, emergency appointments, and facial aesthetics with Harley Street-trained Dr Holly Carlo. Conscious sedation runs through sedationist Dr Oliver Tabbenor, and referrals from other dentists are accepted.

Technology

An iTero scanner replaces impression trays and shows a 3D simulation of the projected result within minutes. Scanning is then repeated at every check-up, so images taken years apart can be compared and half a millimetre of drift or wear surfaces before a patient notices it. Veneer cases run through a trial smile, prototypes, shade matching and T-Scan bite analysis, while CBCT imaging supports implant and endodontic planning. Vivera retainers hold the finished result.
